Personable, dependable, and professional
As a third-time mom determined to have my dream unmedicated hospital birth, I knew I needed the right support. Gwen took time to truly understand me and my history from the very first meeting. She let me get to know her too, building real trust, which is a must for anyone invited to a birth!
Over the course of several appointments, she helped create a detailed birth plan based on what mattered most to me and always brought a can-do attitude. She boosted my confidence and was the warm, wise listener I could confide in about my worries. Scheduling appointments was easy and she was always on time, even when baby decided to come in the middle of the night!
In the delivery room, she advocated strongly for me while bringing a reassuring energy to the room. She acted as a communication relay between us and hospital staff, letting my husband and me stay with each other in the moment. She knew that movement during labor and then relaxing in water were exactly what my baby and I needed. Things progressed quickly but she stayed calm through it all. After our baby arrived, she also talked me through a few unexpected post-birth decisions that I had not anticipated ahead of time. My husband was also grateful for her steady presence throughout the entire experience.
